how many ambien should i take to make sure its a safe dose ? but will for sure knock me out so ill be safe and asleep

Answer:

Whatever it says on your prescription is what the doctor feels is the best dose for you. If it’s not working, you need to go back to your doctor and have them adjust the dose.

If you don’t have a prescription and you managed to get those pills from somewhere else, you have no business taking it. Those drugs are dangerous when used inappropriately, and you need to be monitored by a doctor while on them.

postheadericon Anyone who had problems with blackouts from Ambien have the same problem with Ambien CR?

My doctor says the time release action of CR is supposed to help with that.

Answer:

I was so happy to get the CR so I wouldn’t have these awful times when I did stuff and didn’t remember but the CR didn’t help me. I could fall asleep on it but then I’d wake up in the middle of the night and not be able to go back to sleep. Those blackouts are really freaky! I tend to get up and eat during these times and it’s just too weird! Hope the CR works for you!

postheadericon I can’t sleep through the night, ambien not helping?

Hi, I have had real bad insomnia for the past couple weeks. My doctor put me on ambien cr about a month ago, and that doesen’t seem to work any more. I keep waking up alot during the night. Are there any other pills that might work better. I’ve also tried kava, melatonin, and valerian root. And they didn’t work. Does anyone know of any pills that will work better. Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:

I’m not sure whether or not you are open to this option, but marijuana helped me with my insomnia, maybe it can help you too.

postheadericon Will my doctor prescribe ambien or some other sleep aid easily?

It takes hours to fall asleep

Answer:

If it is your regular doc, it probably would not be a big deal.
But remember, ambien does not produce sleep, it is pseudo-sleep.
My wife and I use Melatonin with great success.
If you haven’t yet, try taking two 3mg tablets 30 minutes before you plan to lay your head down.
It works great for us. You can find it in any drug store in the supplements section.
Good Luck!

postheadericon Im 17 weeks & I have insomnia , is Ambien ok?

Im 17 weeks and sleeping is really really difficult, I had this problem before i was pregnant too. Somebody told me you can take ambien during your pregnancy? I researched a little bit and it didn’t convince me it was completely safe. Has anyone taken it during their pregnancy’s?? What other safe remedies did u use?

Answer:

i was taking ambien before my last pregnancy and when i became pregnant the doctor had me stop. i’m not convinced it’s safe either. i would try a different approach and if youre using caffeine, try stopping that, try chamomile tea before bed, warm bath. i understand though, it sucks, especially when you know that when that baby comes you wont be able to sleep either so it would be nice to get as much as you can now. good luck :)

and i dont think jay z was pregnant when he wrote that song.

postheadericon How do I know if I’ve become dependent on Ambien??

I’ve taken it every night for nearly 2 months… I’m afraid to NOT take it because I’m finally sleeping while on it… what are the signs of dependence or addiction to this drug? Thanks.

Answer:

First off: The doctor who prescribed you Ambien is the best person to answer this question. But since you are using Yahoo Answers:

The benefits of Ambien usually wear out after using it for a long time. After a while you may wake up earlier than usual even after you’ve taken Ambien the night before. Some people also get vivid dreams and feel restless even during their sleep. These would be some of the possible signs that it would be a good time to gradually stop taking Ambien. But the best time to stop taking Ambien would also depend on whether the underlying cause of your sleep problems has been resolved/improved or not.

Ambien is not too aggressive or too addictive though. If you would stop taking Ambien, sure you would have a hard time falling asleep for 2 or 3 nights but after that you would probably be fine. It’s best to gradually reduce the dosage if your doctor advises you to stop taking it rather than going cold turkey.
Ambien is not a benzodiazepine so it’s much safer than many other sleeping pills.
However it should always be your goal not to need any sleep aids at all. Talk about your doctor and create an Ambien ‘exit-plan’ with him/her.

postheadericon I am having trouble sleeping at night… my friend recommended Ambien, but what about Rozerem and Lunesta?

There seem to be some many different sleep aids on the market, and my friends basically take whatever the doctor gives them, but it also seems that every doctor prescribes whatever they are use to prescribing. Besides trial and error, how do I know which sleep aid is best for me? Is there a certain one to start off on, and if that doesn’t work, try something else? Any ideas or guidance?

Answer:

I just have to warn you about my personal experience with Ambien…I got hives and I had NEVER had hives from ANYTHING before. The ambien causes hives in like, 0.5 percent of patients. Then, I tried over the counter stuff and I felt so groggy the next day…REALLY out of it. I started to forget stuff and blackout for a few seconds sometimes. Point is, I realized that a full nights sleep wasn’t worth hurting myself with all the sleep aids. You need to exercise and be more active during the day. Do NOT take naps. Wake up at a reasonable hour and go to bed at the same time every night. Do not watch any kind of action or horror movies…nothing that will make your mind go off all night long. NO water or caffeine before bedtime. Do not eat really heavy greasy dinners. I hope this helped. Good luck.
