postheadericon A little anxious about stating ambien?

I’ve heard reports of people hallucinating while taking ambien. I already have minor hallucinations and would not be too thrilled if I starting seeing stuff when I take it for the first time tomorrow night. My prescription guide I got from my pharmacist does not mention hallucinations but I was hoping to get info from people on it. Please, no drugs stories about how you were “totally tripping.” Thank you

Answer:

Ambien can cause hallucinations in some individuals, but these “hallucinations” aren’t like typical hallucinations caused by psychological disorders.

The hallucinations could be considered more visual “distortions” rather than actual hallucinations.

If you care for the technical information, zolpidem (ambien) is theorized to indirectly activate 5-HT2a receptors in the brain (the same receptors that psychedelics such as LSD/acid and psilocibinic mushrooms are agonists of).
Hence, ambien’s reported recreational effects among recreational drug users.

Hallucinations are typically only experienced in doses higher than 10mg, and instant release ambien is reported as having more instances of hallucinations than the controlled release formulation.

Other effects include temporary amnesia (loss of memory and “black out”), sedation, physical and mental intoxication, and in some cases euphoria (especially in individuals who are seeking the alleged psychedelic effects).

In doses higher than 20mg, the hallucinogenic effects begin to lessen and the intoxicating/amnesic effects begin to become stronger and more apparent.

postheadericon Safe to mix Ambien and Sleepytime Tea?

Is it safe to mix Ambien CR with either Sleepy time or Chamomile tea? I am planning on using 2 bags in each cup of tea. Would appreciate the input, thanks, -Pat

Answer:

Yeah your fine, as long as your not mixing it with stuff like booze or prescription pain killers. Sleepytime tea is just a mixture of tea and herbal components that help you relax, there are no actual drugs in it.

postheadericon Anyone who had problems with blackouts from Ambien have the same problem with Ambien CR?

My doctor says the time release action of CR is supposed to help with that.

Answer:

I was so happy to get the CR so I wouldn’t have these awful times when I did stuff and didn’t remember but the CR didn’t help me. I could fall asleep on it but then I’d wake up in the middle of the night and not be able to go back to sleep. Those blackouts are really freaky! I tend to get up and eat during these times and it’s just too weird! Hope the CR works for you!

postheadericon AMBIEN – What crazy things have you done while asleep on Ambien?

I’ve got a couple friends taking this, and I’ve heard them tell me wacky stories, and read many more, of people doing strange, even dangerous things on it.
Just curious how prevalent this is?

I’m not sure why this stuff is still legal, this is very common!

Answer:

You just need to know more about Ambien
===============================
Ambien is a sedative, also called a hypnotic. It affects chemicals in your brain that may become unbalanced and cause sleep problems (insomnia).

Ambien is used for the short-term treatment of insomnia (difficulty falling or staying asleep). This medication causes relaxation to help you fall asleep.

How you should take Ambien
======================
Take Ambien exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor. Follow the directions on your prescription label.

Ambien comes with patient instructions for safe and effective use. Follow these directions carefully. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.

Take Ambien only if you are able to get a full night’s sleep before you must be active again. Never take this medication during your normal waking hours, unless you have a full 7 to 8 hours to dedicate to sleeping.

Take this medication with a full glass of water. Avoid taking Ambien CR with or just after a meal or it may take longer for you to fall asleep. Ambien is for short-term use only. Tell your doctor if your insomnia symptoms do not improve, or if they get worse after using this medication for 7 to 10 nights in a row. Do not take Ambien for longer than 4 or 5 weeks without your doctor’s advice.

You may have withdrawal symptoms if you stop taking this medication after taking it over several days in a row. Do not stop taking this medication suddenly without first talking to your doctor. You may need to use less and less before you stop the medication completely.

Withdrawal symptoms include behavior changes, stomach pain, muscle cramps, nausea, vomiting, sweating, anxiety, panic, tremors, and seizure (convulsions). Insomnia symptoms may also return after you stop taking this medication. These symptoms may seem to be even worse than before you started taking the medication. Call your doctor if you still have worsened insomnia after the first few nights without taking Ambien.

Do not crush, chew, or break an Ambien CR tablet. Swallow the tablet whole. It is specially made to release medicine slowly in the body. Breaking the tablet would cause too much of the drug to be released at one time. Do not swallow the Edluar tablet whole. Place it under your tongue and allow it to dissolve in your mouth without water. Store zolpidem at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

What you should avoid while taking Ambien
================================
Ambien can cause side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions. You may still feel sleepy the morning after taking the medication. Until you know how this medication will affect you during waking hours, be careful if you drive, operate machinery, pilot an airplane, or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert.

Avoid taking Ambien during travel, such as to sleep on an airplane. You may be awakened before the effects of the medication have worn off. Amnesia (forgetfulness) is more common if you do not get a full 7 to 8 hours of sleep after taking Ambien.

Do not drink alcohol while you are taking Ambien. It can increase some of the side effects of Ambien, including drowsiness.

I think it’s resolved your question… and remember – Any Drug is Drug!

postheadericon I have a question about sleeping pills. Someone I know is taking Ambien?

….well the generic form. Sometimes the pills works within 30 seconds. Other times it could take 90 minutes for the pill to take effect. Has been taking the pill for over a year every night without fail. She gets out of bed with no memory of anything. She will eat, talk, look for stuff but no memory of any of it. Is there something different she can take without all the sleep walking? I mean, isn’t a sleeping pill to keep you in bed?

Answer:

There is also Lunesta or Sonata that she could try. Have her take to her doctor for more information. I have taken both of these and did not do the things as I did on Ambien (eating, talking, and no memory).

postheadericon Does anyone else out there have a dependancy to Ambien?

Please email me with any comments you have about the drug.. Thanks.

Answer:

it tends to have an amnesia affect on some people. if you take too much, you can get clumsy and forget stuff. i had a room mate that took 8 ambien. i made him go to the ER and he didnt remember any of it…..almost like a blackout.
I have taken it (responsibly). But it did make me clumsy and black out, so i dont take it any more. that stuff scares me!
that’s all i know about ambien, i dont personally know about dependency issues.

postheadericon Ambien cr doesn’t give me a full nights sleep. I break it, wake and take more, but I really need more than 12

I tried lunesta and another. What can help sleep a full night. I have trouble falling and going back to sleep. No benedryl-makes me woozy and not sleepy. Help! Takin htis stuff every night.

Answer:

it sounds to me like u took too much stuff and ur brain isnt responding to it anymore. Sleep meds when taken enough screw up ur sleep more than they help. they really are worthless. I had accidentally gotten addicted to them. I went a week with out sleep (full sleep 6-8 hours) I would just nap and wake up. It took a full 2 weeks of hell be4 i went to sleep naturally. My advice to u is to stop taking them drink as much water as u can to clear it from ur system and do sit ups, push ups, jog ect do what ever to make ur body physically tired to get back to normal.
Good Luck

postheadericon Is it too risky to try Ambien?

I need something for sleep and got the prescription for it today. I have done a bit of research and found that there is a high occurrence of sleepwalking, sleep eating, and doing all kinds of crazy stuff when you are in a half-conscious state.

I am taking Restoril now and it is not working for me, so I need something else.

Anyone else taking Ambien and not having problems?

Answer:

its different for everyone.
but i do have a few stories about it.
my dad takes them..
and one time i went downstairs at like 2 in the morning and my dad was buck naked trying to fry peanut butter in a skillet.
also, almost everynight he takes it,i’ll go downstairs the next day and there will be food everywhere, the butter had claw marks in it.the tv was turned around and there were puzzle peices everywher.
he also writes checks, but just doodles pictures in them ha and texts his fiance random stuff that makes no sense.
so be careful.get someone to hide your phone and car keys, you’ll be aight.
my dad said the next day “thats the best nights sleep iv ever had!i feel so rested” and yet he had been doing all the above all night.

postheadericon if i took 2mg xanax about a hour ago is it safe to take a 10mg ambien?

i had a anxiaty attack so i took the meds now its bed time and i cant sleep its been a little over a hour can i safly take a 10mg ambien?

Answer:

Well I thought Xanax helped you to go to sleep, why don’t you cut the ambien in half and take that, you don’t wanna mix to much stuff, especially if you have never taken them together before, you don’t know your tolerance, take half to be safe, wait an hour & if your still not sleep then take the other half, good luck….I am not a MD, just my opinion!

postheadericon Does ambien show up on a drug screen?

I HAVE TROUBLE SLEEPING AND MY DOC WONT PRESCRIBE ME AMBIEN SO I TAKE MY FRIENDS. BUT IF MY WORK TEST ME AND I DONT HAVE A SCRIP FOR IT I WILL GET FIRED. SO MY QUESTION IS WEATHER OR NOT IT SHOWS UP ON A DRUG SCREEN.

Answer:

Oh, you mean that stuff that’s supposed to help you sleep, but really doesn’t do s**t.
